U Should Use UPrinting.com

Not too long ago I had a contest on my website sponsored by UPrinting.com.  The winner of the contest received 250 free business cards.  I love contests and love to have them on my site, but I am always skeptical of putting my name behind a product that I've never used so I decided to place an order of my own for 500 business cards.  This post is a review of that experience.

At the time, I had just re-designed my logo which means that I had to come up with a new business card layout.  The design I came up with was double-sided, full color and needed to be printed with a full bleed on double-sided glossy paper.  I have had some trouble in the past getting cards done with those specifications so I was a little apprehensive about how they would turn out; especially with an online printing shop.

As it turns out, my worries were unfounded.  The cards came back looking exactly how I wanted them.  In fact, they look great!  UPrinting did an amazing job with them and did them for an extremely low price.

I'm glad to have used UPrinting and even happier to now have cool business cards to give out.  If you need a job printed in the future, consider using UPrinting!

So how much is UPrinting paying you for the ad?

Well, they did give me 500 cards to give away on my site. So I suppose you could consider that payment but in terms of actual money, they haven't paid me anything. UPrinting is doing a lot of promotions on a lot of different blogs right now but I just wanted to let everyone know that I had a good experience with them.

Grant, I found your site linked in Vandelay Design's Best of September article. Those Illustrator brushes had to take a while to make and yet you offer them free. Pretty generous. I hope you're getting something back on that deal.

I was glad to find this post because my business cards just won first place in a contest on Knowtebook and the prize is 1,000 cards from UPrinting.

Thanks for the brushes. They're amazing.

Doug, thanks for the nice comment! Those brushes did take a while to make but I'm glad I did them. I enjoy creating resources for people to use, I don't get anything back except the pleasure of knowing that designers are putting them to good use. Your site is great by the way! Love those Illustrations!

Thanks for the compliment on me beloved little blog [grin]. I would love to know how you made those brushes. Do you have any such tutorials around here?

Actually, I had some business cards printed up last summer by www.overnightprints.com and they are fantastic. Front and back, gloss coating (free), and 4-color - 500 cards for twenty-five bucks. Great deal at a great place.

Were the business cards delivered the same size as traditional business cards, I have noticed that VistaPrints cards are slightly smaller.

I can't help but notice that the reflection and lighting looks slightly pixelated. Is that intentional or a byproduct of Uprinting's print techniques?

@blue I'm not sure why it's a bit pixelated. It is probably a result of a couple of factors. I took the photo using the macro settings on my camera. At that distance the lens will pick up anything, even the bumps and texture of the paper and ink. It may also be the result of me making adjustments to the photo in Photoshop. The lighting in the room wasn't very good so I had to adjust the brightness and contrast.

I think my cards look good. Everyone I've given them to have been impressed.
