Screencast: How to Open Illustrator Brush Sets
I frequently receive emails from readers who have downloaded a set of Illustrator brushes from this website, opened the file, only to see a blank screen. While you can access Illustrator brush sets in this way. It is not the method that I would recommend. There is a much better way to open Illustrator brush sets and in this brief screencast I will show you how to open an Illustrator brush set without seeing a blank screen.

Grant,
Thanks for the quick tutorial. Since I’ve been doing a lot more illustrations lately, learning to utilize the power of the brush in Illustrator is becoming more and more important. But that one thing that irritates me is the drastic difference between how brushes work in Photoshop and Illustrator.
One thing I’d like to know is how do I keep a custom brush that I’ve created in the brushes library, so if I open a new document I can still use that same brush.
Thanks and keep up the good work.

Kyle,
You are right Illustrator and Photoshop handle brushes in drastically different ways. I will work up a screencast for you and show you how this is done. It’s actually very easy to do.
Thanks Grant. That’s freaking awesome. I’ll keep my eyes peeled for the new video tut.
