Textures: Wet Sand Part 1

I spent some time last week processing all those textures I took while on vacation last month.  As it turns out, I have a lot to give away; so many in fact that I have to adjust my posting schedule a bit so that you guys don’t have huge download times and so that I don’t kill my server.  What this means is that for the next two weeks, I’ll be posting this set in four parts; two parts a week.  Each set contains around 23 – 34 textures ranging around 65 megabytes in size.

Wallpaper of the Week Vol. 4

Sorry for the late post this week.  It has taken me a while to catch up on things because of the long weekend.

This week’s wallpaper is a tribute to General George S. Patton, the famous commander of the U.S. 3rd Army during WWII.  In this piece General Patton salutes members of the Third Army prior to delivering his famous Blood and Guts speech on the eve of the Allied invasion of France in 1941.  This piece is a portrayal of that moment as depicted by Franklin J. Schaffner’s 1970 Academy Award winning film “Patton.”

Free Textures: Dry Sand

I just returned from vacation in Puerto Vallarta.  I had a great time!  It was so relaxing to be away from everything.  The weather was perfect, the beach was beautiful and the people were very nice.

Being on a beach gave me an opportunity to do something that I’ve wanted to do for quite a while; assemble a collection of sand and water textures.  I spent a little of each day walking around with my Canon S3 IS taking pictures of various objects and after all was said and done, I took over 400 photos.

More information after the jump.

Bonus: Wallpaper of the Week Vol. 2

In celebration of Colorburned Studios’ first week as a fully-functioning blog, I’m releasing a second set of wallpapers today.  Today’s bonus wallpaper is based on another one of my favorite designs.  My rendering of a transparent glass-shaped flower was the result of the intersection of a number of techniques that I developed in Photoshop.  I found the final result of those techniques to be a breathtaking piece of art.  If you feel the same way, feel free to download this wallpaper in any of the 4 different resolutions below, or if you own an iPhone, download the iPhone version.
