Today, I am releasing yet another set of high quality Illustrator Paint brushes. There aren't many brushes included in this set but what this set lacks in quantity, it makes up for in quality. Set 2 contains 7 high quality Illustrator paint brushes in varying widths. What I like about this set is how fat some of the brush strokes are. A lot of brushes I've seen are a little too scrawny to be used in large point sizes. The larger you make the stroke, the more the stroke distorts. Since these are a little fatter than normal you'll be able to make them a little fatter than you can with some other brushes. Don't get too crazy with them and use a 30 pt stroke. These brushes aren't that big. You will, however have a little more room to work with.
When I take my camera out to grab some shots of textures I usually come home with literally hundreds of images. The really amazing ones, I release in the Colorburned Shop. The good ones get released as freebies and the others get held over just in case. The other day I was looking through some of my old sand images and I realized that some of them, while not technically textures, were good enough to be released as freebies on my site. When I go through my images I try to distinguish between what's a texture and what's a photo. In my mind a texture is any kind of image that you can skin a 3D model with. A photo is just about everything else.Included in this set are 21 high resolution textures of the sand and ocean from a trip I recently took to the beach.
Today, I am releasing Set 1 of the Illustrator brushes that I first began posting last week. Set 1 includes 18 high quality Illustrator brushes in Adobe Illustrator CS format. Enjoy!
I was working on a project not too long ago where I needed to replicate the look of a signature for a logo that I was working on. I spent a lot of time going through my collection of Illustrator brushes trying to find one that I liked but none of the brushes I had really excited me. So instead of using a brush I was only mildly satisfied with I decided to make my own. I ended up creating quite a few sets of brushes and I was pleased with how they all turned out; so pleased in fact that I decided to release them all to my readers for free.
I've been meaning to add some more free textures to the site for quite some time. Lately, I've been a little busy with other projects and just haven't had much time to put a set of textures together. Today, I am releasing 8 high resolution images of bark.
Today, I am releasing Part 2 of the Waterfalls texture set. Waterfalls Part 2 includes 19 free high resolution images of waterfalls. I apologize for the delay in the release of this set but with the launch of the Colorburned Shop last week I had to adjust my posting schedule a bit.
Today, I am releasing the newest addition to my texture sets. Waterfalls Part 1 includes 17 free high resolution images of waterfalls. I've always been fascinated with water flowing over rocks. When I saw this waterfall I knew that I had to snap some photos of it. These images would make a great background for any graphic that you may be working on where you need a thin layer of water flowing over stone. I hope you enjoy them.
Over the last month I've added over 300 free high resolution beach related textures to the website. Fortunately, I still have considerably more textures to post but in the meantime I wanted to round them all up and put them into one place so you guys could download them all easily.
Today, I am releasing Parts 3 and 4 of the Waves set. Parts 3 and 4 include 73 high resolution textures of waves in various states. I like these sets a lot because they show so much water movement, lots of bubbles and light reflection. They are great images to use for any kind of graphic where you need moving water flowing over sand or some kind of rock.
I just arrived back home from my two week excursion to New York City. New York was great! I really love that town. There's so much to do there. Unfortunately, I didn't have much luck finding a job there but I had a great time and I'm going to stay positive and keep looking. Something will pop up eventually.
Since I'm a little behind on things I wanted to post a couple texture sets for you guys to save a little time. So today I am releasing Parts 1 and 2 of the Waves set. Waves is a nice set of textures. Parts 1 and 2 include 70 high resolution textures of waves in various states. I like these sets a lot because they show so much water movement, lots of bubbles and light reflection. They are great images to use for any kind of graphic where you need moving water flowing over sand or some kind of rock.
This week I am releasing my Rocks and Pebbles Texture Pack. This is by far one of the smallest packs that I am releasing. I thought about saving the smaller packs for last but I decided that I'd rather end with a bang than a splat. This set contains 5 images of rocks and pebbles. Some of these rocks are dry and some of them are beneath a few inches of still water. This gives some of the images a rippled effect which I think is kind of cool.
Today I am finally releasing Part 4 of my four part set of wet sand textures. Part 4 is probably my favorite set. Not only is Part 4 the biggest set with 34 images, it is also the most varied of all the ones I've released so far. In this set you can find lots of foam, rocks and even a little muddy sand.
Hello from New York City! Today, I'm releasing Part 3 of my wet sand textures. Part 3 contains 23 high resolution photos of wet sand. These photos are a little wetter than the previous images. I hope you like them!
Here is Part 2 of my four part set of Wet Sand Textures. This set contains 29 high resolution textures available for free. Enjoy!
I spent some time last week processing all those textures I took while on vacation last month. As it turns out, I have a lot to give away; so many in fact that I have to adjust my posting schedule a bit so that you guys don't have huge download times and so that I don't kill my server. What this means is that for the next two weeks, I'll be posting this set in four parts; two parts a week. Each set contains around 23 - 34 textures ranging around 65 megabytes in size.

Sorry for the late post this week. It has taken me a while to catch up on things because of the long weekend.
This week's wallpaper is a tribute to General George S. Patton, the famous commander of the U.S. 3rd Army during WWII. In this piece General Patton salutes members of the Third Army prior to delivering his famous Blood and Guts speech on the eve of the Allied invasion of France in 1941. This piece is a portrayal of that moment as depicted by Franklin J. Schaffner's 1970 Academy Award winning film "Patton."
I just returned from vacation in Puerto Vallarta. I had a great time! It was so relaxing to be away from everything. The weather was perfect, the beach was beautiful and the people were very nice.
Being on a beach gave me an opportunity to do something that I've wanted to do for quite a while; assemble a collection of sand and water textures. I spent a little of each day walking around with my Canon S3 IS taking pictures of various objects and after all was said and done, I took over 400 photos.
More information after the jump.
This week's wallpaper of the week is a recreation of one of my more popular pieces titled "There's No Place Like Springfield." Springfield was an experiment in colors that I designed early in the year. Hopefully you guys will enjoy it.
This week's wallpaper is based on one of my favorite designs. Equidistant was an experiment in shapes and colors. It quickly rose above the rest of my designs as one of my favorites. It also spawned its sister designs Equilateral and Blood Diamond. You may download this wallpaper in 4 different resolutions as well as for your iPhone.
