]]> A while back I snapped some photos at the quilting exhibit at state fair where I live. I came back with a lot of ideas for creating seamless vector patterns and decided to put a few of them to use. The result was 4 fabric inspired pattern swatches based on some of the quilts that I saw. In this download you will find a vector houndstooth pattern, a basket weave, a mosaic, as well as a really nice rectangular pattern that you can use in your work.

]]> You may remember several months back when I became obsessed with plaid patterns. During that time I released several sets of plaid patterns and even wrote a couple tutorials [ 1, 2 ] on the subject. Since then, I’ve pursued some other interests on this site but I’ve always wanted to return and create some new plaid patterns for you guys to use.

The first set of plaids that I released on this site turned out fairly well in my opinion but to be honest I was never fully satisfied with how the second set of plaids turned out. In the second set, I decided to add a twill overlay on to the patterns but not all of the sets turned out exactly how I imagined. In fact, some of the twills didn’t repeat seamlessly which is something I always had a problem with.

That is why today I am releasing a set of 20 Seamless Plaid Patterns for Illustrator. Each pattern swatch is completely vector and can be used for just about any purpose including fashion design, graphic design, package design, web design, or whatever else you can think up. You may download these swatches below for Illustrator CS and above.

]]> One of the best things about vectors graphics is their scalability.  If you’ve ever worked with vectors, you know that you can scale them as large or as small as you like.  This is the biggest advantage that vector graphics have over raster graphics.  The problem with vectors comes with your perspective to the artwork.  It doesn’t matter how detailed your vector is, the more you enlarge or zoom into the design the more detail you lose.

I often have this problem when I attempt to distress my vectors.  The more I enlarge my vector, the more the distressed elements tend to become distorted.  To solve this problem, you either have to find a very detailed and very large distressed vector or you need to find some distressed vectors that are seamless and have the ability to repeat.

This set of vectors is a mix of both.  Included in this set you will find 10 seamless destroyed vectors in SVG format that are perfect for creating distressed vectors.

]]> This set of 85 Illustrator paint brushes is a remake of some brushes that I previously released on this site.  Since releasing these brushes, I’ve received quite a few emails from people who have had some difficulty opening or downloading them.  The reason for this is that they were not contained within a zip file, nor were they saved for legacy versions of Illustrator.  So instead of updating the files one by one, I decided to combine all 4 sets into one and save them back as an Illustrator brush file and then re-release them to you guys.  Enjoy!
